Our network of charities has achieved many successes.
We were the first organisation to identify the link between diet and cancer, and we are building the world’s largest source of scientific research on cancer prevention through diet, weight and physical activity. Our achievements over 25 years reflect our commitment to helping people reduce their risk of preventable cancers.
As of 2014, our network has funded over HK$1bn of research. We were the first organisation that identified the link between diet and cancer – now a widely accepted fact. Among our many research findings, we confirmed that being overweight is a major risk factor for at least 11 different cancers.
We are currently funding vital projects on a number of different cancers.
Our pioneering Continuous Update Project is the world’s largest source of scientific research on cancer prevention and survivorship through diet, weight and physical activity. It is continuously updated allowing us to constantly monitor the latest research and regularly review our recommendations, so the public can be assured they are receiving the most accurate and proven information at all times.
Our Second Expert Report in 2007 was the most comprehensive book ever published on the links between food, nutrition, physical activity and cancer prevention. It was based on an exhaustive analysis of more than 7,000 scientific cancer prevention studies conducted over 50 years and was the basis of our authoritative Recommendations for Cancer Prevention.
Our efforts and achievements in spreading the message across the community demonstrate what a vital role we play in empowering people to make choices that will help them lead happy, healthy, cancer-free lives.
